Rupert Murdoch forgot about the one Muslim who gave his life defending the right to freedom of speech
While Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch was tweeting out his belief that all Muslims “must be held responsible” for the January 7, 2015, terrorist attacks in France, he forgot the one Muslim, Police Officer Ahmed Merabet, who gave his life defending the right to freedom of speech.
Merabet was guarding the Charlie Hebdo offices when he was killed by two radical Islamic extremists, Said and Cherif Kouachi, who targeted the magazine because of its depiction of the prophet Muhammad.
Now while several news organizations were pointing out that Merabet had given his life defending a paper that criticized his religion, Murdoch was busy tweeting about the “growing jihadist cancer” within the Muslim religion.
On January 9, 2015, Murdoch tweeted, “Maybe most Moslems peaceful, but until they recognize and destroy their growing jihadist cancer they must be held responsible.”
Murdoch, however, didn’t stop there. He went on to say that “political correctness” has run amok and has made many “hypocrites” who remain in “denial” about the “big jihadist danger looming everywhere.”
It took Murdoch two days from the time that he tweeted out these comments to recognize that not all Muslims have terrorism on their minds.
On January 11, 2015, Murdoch did a complete 180 and decided to rain down praises on the Muslim police officer, Ahmed Merabet, who lost his life defending the very thing that Murdoch believes all Muslims hate, freedom of speech.
Murdoch tweeted, “Extraordinary scenes in Paris today, but do not forget the heroic sacrifice of Ahmed Merabet, Muslim police officer whose funeral was held today.”
Unfortunately for Murdoch, the timeline of the events and his tweets are evidence that his praise of Officer Ahmed Merabet is not genuine and is the very thing he [Murdoch] criticized, “political correctness.”
